ADHD

ADHD is an increasingly common neurodevelopmental condition that results in behavioural symptoms including hyperactivity, inattentiveness, and impulsiveness.

Young people with ADHD often are extraordinarily creative and full of ideas, they may need some support in order to control impulsiveness and focus a busy mind. Movement practices can help by bringing their awareness to the body, feeling more grounded and focussed. Physical exercises which aim to tone the vagus nerve have been proved effective for regulating the nervous system, which is sometimes on high alert for individuals with ADHD. Relaxation techniques can also help to familiarise the young person into a calm state and understand how they can achieve that for themselves with practical tools. Breathing techniques can help give the young person control and understanding about their nervous system and help them to find tools to manage big emotions.
